A brand new rumor suggests that Marvel is currently working on two shows for Disney+, with one of them being a Secret Invasion series.
The report comes from Bleeding Cool, which states that the Secret Invasion storyline could be the basis for a brand new Marvel Studios project on the streaming service. The Secret Invasion comic-series is one of Marvel’s most iconic arcs, focusing on the Skrulls who were introduced in Captain Marvel. The Skrulls, a species who are able to shapeshift, also made an appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home, further cementing their importance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At this stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would make perfect sense for a Secret Invasion-focused series to come out as it would add more concrete stakes to the series after the earth-shattering conclusion of Marvel’s Phase 3. Now that Marvel’s Phase 4 is on its way, it also makes sense for Disney Plus to get some of the hotter Marvel properties, as something like Secret Invasion will more than certainly draw in even the more casual Marvel viewers.
As of now, there’s no indication that this could be a program on Disney+ that will have the kind of wide impact that Marvel Studios would hope for. While it would be an interesting tactic if Marvel secured all of their A-List talent for a long-form miniseries with some of their most popular characters and actors, Disney+ is still a relatively new platform and Marvel Studios has not yet even premiered a new project on the streaming service. If anything, they might want to see how their early slate turns out before planning something so ambitious.
