Thor: Ragnarok filmmaker Taika Waititi has boarded Time Bandits, the TV series adaptation of the beloved Terry Gilliam-directed movie, which is in development at Apple.

The Wrap is reporting that Waititi is set to co-write and direct the pilot episode for a potential Time Bandits series from Apple. Waititi, should the series move forward, would also serve as an executive producer on subsequent episodes, along with Gilliam himself. It’s not the only upcoming show that the filmmaker is producing either, as he’s also backing FX’s What We Do in the Shadows TV series. The latter is scheduled to premiere later this month.

Apple last summer made a deal for the rights to turn the 1981 fantasy into a TV series. Gilliam’s Time Bandits is a dark, irreverent adventure about imagination, bravery and the nature of our dreams. It follows the time-traveling adventures of an 11-year-old history buff named Kevin who, one night, stumbles on six dwarfs, who used to work for the Supreme Being, but have since taken to robbing people and stealing treasures from throughout history, with the aid of the Being’s map of the time-space continuum.
