Winter is finally here, bringing with it the epic battle between the living and dead when Season 8 kicks off tonight on HBO. The moment “Game of Thrones” fans have been waiting for since the blockbuster fantasy series debuted in 2011 will unfold.

Last season left off with Jon and other leaders in the fictional continent of Westeros vowing to put aside their drama and fight together against the Night King and his White Walkers. Season 7′s finale ended with the icy creatures, with the help of their new ice dragon, breaking through the Wall that’s until now kept them out. They’re marching towards Winterfell, where it’s believed the biggest battle in the history of the show will take place.

When we left off, Jon and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) were seen hooking up for the first time while on a boat to Winterfell, just as Sam and Bran Stark came to the realization that Dany is actually Jon’s aunt. They also discover that Jon is the true heir to the Iron Throne, which Daenerys aspires to sit on to rule over Westeros.

The 8th and final season starts tonight- April 14th, 2019 on HBO at 8pm central time.
